Reviews
Civic Center! From what I read on the internet, most people weren't too happy about the indoor shows. After seeing a few TOO shows outdoors I was psyched for the indoor experience. I thought the sound was amazing, as well as the lights. Not to compare TOO to the Dead, but seeing the band indoors took me back to that special Deadlike place I have not been to since Brent's final Spring Tour in 1990. Special thanks to Phil for making this music move in this positive fresh direction. Peace.

After not seeing the band in any configuration since Furthur96,which was a bummmer! I was a little apprehensive about revisiting a very painful source of prior enjoyment, I accepted a tix for the Hartford, CT show...The venue was all too familiar, the scene the same, same faces(a lil' older perhaps), and once inside the same familiar sounds, smells, the taping section still there(Missing@Furthur96)...I started to believe....well maybe???? Tuna and Root were great....first time for Root...but being an old percussionist i loved it!.....Then the obligitory stage shuffle....and it looked alot like the old familiar faces of the crew.... don't know if it was? ...But!....couple of tokes later.....the lights started down and I was squirming in my seat.....Waiting....when Bruce walked out with a big shit eating grin, followed by Phil and Bob...I knew i was on familiar ground....Now just maybe???? Where is the fat man? ....he was not replaced, but in his place stood two shining guitarists....Steve Kimmock i had seen w/Zero,and had heard about the Bay areas Mark Karan...Now what?....Well let me tell you.....As they strummed the opening chords of NFA....I thought it a strange opener....till it built....and the band started hitting on all 8 cylinders as a fine tuned V8 should....Hold ON...Who is this band playing those old favorite tunes???....before i knew what was happening I found myself standing and cheering with the rest of the packed house....and low and behold....."THE BOYS ARE BACK!!!!!!!"....When they brought back long forgotten Loose Lucy w/Phil stepping to the Front I was overjoyed...it had been a long time since seeing this old favorite tune LIVE.....but the tears came on their own....when up popped Jerry's....LOSER w/Bruce doing a stellar job....Still couldn't stem those tears of both Joy and Sorrow....theycame back again 2 songs later when they sang Friend of the Devil.....I kept closing my teary eyes and kept waiting for Jerry to re-appear from behind the speakers...as his guitar was definitely heard...! Thanks Mark&Steve great job.... The show wound it's way through many favorites....loved Phil's version of Jack-a-Roe....Bruce as usual was his ever present proffessional filling in here and there and then a great solo on his Rainbow's Cadillac...Loved it....Drumz & Space seemed dreamy...I reallyenjoyed Molo's driving beat....seemed to push Micky to newer heights......YAHOO!.....China>Ryder was too good followed by an eery China Doll w/Phil on vocals....nice, but lacked something?....might want to try another singer on this tune....Bobby's Throwin' Stones brought back lots of memories....when the went into the coda from NFA I figured we were in for a smokin' encore.....wesang and stomped our feet for about 5-7 min....hoping they would come back.....BUT!....no such luck...All of a sudden the house lites started up and over the PA came another all too familiar tune....Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing "Happy Trails" to you until we meet again....(Roy had died that day)....I thought that a perfect ending to a very HOT and well played show.....Don't know howthe other stops on the tour had been but I figured the Hartford show was a Keeper....You could see the band was having a blast playing together...Loved the Sax...and great guitar playing... What can I say....after some 29 yrs as a fan...I think i saw the same ole' familiar bus...circling the arena.... and I jumped on it..... again!

This show was excelent....only indoor show of our tour, opened up and closed with NFA...reminded me of a New Year's second set... the only complaint i have is that i think they need to expand on their set selection...we heard about 11 repeat songs in 4 shows...but i can't complain...it still brought back the good ol' memories;)

After see my first show of the tour at Greatwoods, i was in much anticapation to attend this show. I had 10th row seats for it and is the closest I have ever been. as soon as Hot tuna hit the stage I knew we were in for a good night. I feelings were comfirmed when TOO opened up with a great NFA. The entire show was great, and it made the show for me to see my first Masterpice. I hope the other ones continue furthur and keep the vibe alive. God bless the Grateful Dead
