First set was pretty much a drag. Excellent Lovelight to end it though. They came out on fire for the 2nd set. Still not enough to pull out the 1st. My overall rating would be a B-.

The sound was as good as it gets in an ou door venue. Hearing Twilight Time on my 52nd birthday was awesome; I never heard the Dead play that and with Willie... totally great. The show was so good it was worth the transmission I used up on my Volvo Wagon to get there.

I had one hell of a time at the show!!! The good times started out in the parking lot at Shakedown Street at 3:30pm. No problems from the cops or security. Entered the venue at 7:00pm without being searched, was able to get in my 35mm camera. My seat was in the front row right section, and I shot some excellent pics of the boys & sister Joan!!! My highlights of the show were the 20 min. 1st set opener Viola Lee Blues, Mr. Charlie sung by Joan, Little Red Rooster, and the Lovelight 1st set closer!!! 2nd set highlights for me were Fire on the Mountain (great vocals from Mickey), He's Gone, Comes A Time sung by Joan, Help on the Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower, and the Encore Johnnie B. Goode w/ Johnnie Johnson on piano!!! Many Thanks to the band for playing such a terrific show!!! Jimmy Herring was on fire the entire night too!!!

The sound and setting were great. Willie Nelson did about a 95-minute set, much more than I've seen him do at a couple festival appearances. He did a lot of "standard" Willie songs (nothing wrong with that), as well as quite a few slightly more obscure songs. A great time.
     The last time I'd seen more than 2 of the GD together was 8 years ago, at this same venue. I was afraid my expectations would be too high. Not at all! Viola Lee Blues started out, old song with the modern day sound, and it went on, and on, and on. And that's a good thing; I still can't get the riff out of my head a week later. The rest of the first set was like, well, a first set, but an interesting one. Willie looked cool playing with the Dead, but I don't remember him actually singing. The Lovelight to end the set was smoking.
     Intermission--yes, this was indeed a Dead show! The lights go down finally, a little jam and then Watchtower>Fire--yeah, baby! Uh-oh, then drums?! I hope this isn't going to be a super short show! No problem, it turns out. Terrapin... nice, and Comes A Time... Joan Osborne sings beautifully. Post-drums has usually been my favorite time, and just check out the list.
     The Dead still have IT! The only bad thing is that I'm too entrenched in "normal" life to get back on the bus. Thanks for the music.

Riverport Amp, haven't been here since the Bob Dylan/Paul Simon show in '99. The final show of the 2nd leg with Willie Nelson turned out to be my best of the year for me (only hitting Bonnaroo, Riverport, and Deer Creek). Willie sure kicked the day off really well. Highlight for me was Going Back To Georgi1a. The Dead on the other hand really tore the roof off. 1st set was nice and smooth. A Viola Lee Blues opener that went on for around 20 mints sure got everone going while the sun was still out. Willie joined The Dead with friends Mickey Raphael and Jonnie Johnson for a few songs. Jonnie sang Tanqueray which was funky. Little Red Rooster sure hit the blues note of the day. But it was a rocking Lovelight that top the set for me with Joan singing her lungs out. The 2nd set was the best set I've seen to this day. A great mix of light songs and rocking jams. A smooth Watchtower oper was real tight, with the fact that Bob Dylan would be on the next leg of the tour. Fire was real good leading onto a real good Drums/Space once again Joan shined on Space. He's Gone was Priceless, I loooked around and saw everone singing. Terrapin Station was good with Comes A Time in the middle. But for sure Help>Slip>Franklin's with a Jonny B Good encore with Johnnie Jonhson closed the night out with a BANG! Thank you to Willie and The Dead.
