Reviews
Oh Yeah!! On a chilly Orlando night, Furthur brought the heat inside the Hard Rock. The boys are firing on all cylanders and clearly enjoying it.
Burbs67, Ocoee, Fl
Didnt enjoy the first set all to much, just not a whole lot of energy. much to slow for a saturday night.....It didnt really hit all cylynders for me till the second set around Althea...then they were on fire.
i do have to say who ever does the venue booking for the band needs to be fired.
hard rock has got to be one of the worst venues i have ever been too. first of all it was way undersized for the crowd, not to mention the one restroom and one main bar they had for the enitre place.
Please do a little homework next time when choosing venues, there are plenty of outdoor facilites in florida. would have improved the vibe tremendously...imho

first set was great! We were in the PHIL ZONE and the vibe was wonderful...Phil was having a blast and it showed through the music..both sets were stellar...wish i could see more..this is the compilastion of artists we have been waiting for, for 15 years...go see this! dont get me wrong, ratdog is awesome, with its jazzy flow..this however, is something new and different...the youth in the group gives it its new flavor...i want to thank you for a real good time...

Great show! First time at the Hard Rock and I would certainly return for more shows. Both sets for me and my wife rocked. I have been going to shows for 25 years and saw my first After Midnight, Race is on and Next Time you see me. Thought all the boys sounded great - nice to see Phil again. The set totally set off a great dynamic between John and Jeff. Chimenti sounded great all night and how some stellar solos. Bobby rocked all night in those stylin clam shorts. Wish I could see more of the tour. Enjoy the rest of the shows...

Couldn't disagree more with Chuck... First set was tremendous... The band was in that "special" place that only the members of the Grateful Dead can go. Just love hearing that sound! I thought the energy level on the first set was outstanding... Not sure if Chuck means the playing or the set list... Kinda hard to speed up Must Have Been The Roses or Masterpiece. Both were played superbly though...Deep Elem Blues was as thick and rich as it gets...Great venue as well... The floor, which was general admission, was absolutely packed... That's why I bought reserved seats. Although I didn't sit much... 3,000 people in an impressive facility. You really felt close to the band... Just an overall great night of music. Can't wait for Chicago and 2 front row nights in the Philzone!!!

Excellent Show. I wasn't sure it could get any better than Miami. I am definitely grateful for this band and their repertoire. To all who are going Furthur, you are in for a treat.

the venue was amazing i loved hat you were so close and intimate with the band. however i though it very disrespetfcul and cheesy that they would actually have john kadlecik from the cover band dark star orchestra touring with them. i mean really how is it that the band members could even think for a split second that they could replace jerry with a sorry wann-a-bee sound and look alike like that. my husband and i traveled over a 1000 miles to see this show and only stayed hru half the firs set. dont get me wrong yes they sounded good but they sounded too good they put too much time into the soundboad it sounded jus like listeneing to a cd in your living room. when you go to a live show you expect a live show nt an over worked one. sorry we wont be going ny furthur planned on hitting atlanta on the way home and then to chicago in march but we went furthur than we should have.
heather, dillsboro indiana
Please ignore the negative comments above. There's just no pleasing some people. Yeah, that was a real drag when they played RaceIsOn-Roses-Masterpiece-Reuben. The red hot Deal to end first set wasn't doing it for you? Jeez. The 2 Florida shows were Smokin'! Totally different shows but both top notch. Easily best post-Jerry lineup. They're back! The energy in Hard Rock was through the roof.
CE, Winter Park
I cant wait to see the boys playin. Its been a little while since i seen a show, well not that long. But Im ready to dance.

Orlando was just as good as Miami and mabey even a little better. Couple of rough spots on some song changes and a couple of songs had clunky parts and Bobs voice was a little taxed by the end of the night, but none of these problems lasted long or for a full song. The highlights by far outwieghed any of these small problems that a newer group of guys early in a tour would experience.
Reuben and Cherise>Deep Elm> Deal
Fucking awesome.
After Midnight Flawless.
Other ones I felt like I needed a stage dive or something it was so fuckin good.
Thanks Boys
Come on down to FLA anytime you want.

heather - All I can say is "HUH??" That has to be the oddest review I have ever read. And that is saying a lot because there are countless ridiculous statements made here.
First of all you sound surprised that JK was the singer??? Did you really not know until he walked onto the stage?? Wow! Then you are complaining that they sounded too good? They sounded so good that you left after the first half of the first set??? After driving a 1000 miles??? What??!! I am sorry but that doesn't even make sense. Give me a break! I can't even say anything more I was so floored by that comment it left me speechless.

Can't wait for these guys to come to Chicago. 9th row. First night. Oh yeah.
I've seen Jay and Bob with Ratdog (at this very Hard Rock a few years back); Jeff with The Dead; Joe with The Duo; and John with DSO. All A Class artists. Unlike a lot of folks who post here (or so it seems), I absolutely loved Warren Haynes last year but I'm looking forward to hearing John (sure, with Warren we had more rock and southern blues-inspired lists, but you cannot beat his lyrical voice, his unbelievable guitar work and his work ethic. Perhaps not "the sound", but a great incarnation). All the live stuff I've heard to date is incredible.
Safe travels all.

Sounds like Heather didn't even get started, much less going too far furthur! JK is they best player with them since JG IMHO. NYE was amazing! I am so glad they are out on the road again with such energy and family feeling. I am so looking forward to Chicago and Denver, as well as Phils 70th Bday!! This band is the shnizzle!

Heather, Jerry died back in 1995, so he is no longer able to play. As original Grateful Dead members, Bobby and Phil have the right to play with anyone they want. Everyone else in the world would have some understanding of what it is they are driving 1000 miles to see.

Heather is in a small group of people that can't help that no matter what they do in life they look for the negativity. I'm really not sure how she found much wrong with the band. I saw them in Dec. In Ct & they were so much fun. There were a few more haters writing reviews back then, they like the attention. Enjoy all the shows, these guys sound better than anycombo since Steve Kimock & Mark Karan played w/ them as the Other Ones. See you in Manchester, NH & the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT.

Hey folks, John is not Jerry, never will be and my guess is he does not think he is Jerry.
So maybe he plays a little like Jerry. Is that BAD?? I sure dont think so. I miss Jerry every time I hear his sweet voice and soulful licks over my speakers.
Will John remind me of Jerry one or two times during the show I am set for in New Hampshire next week? I sure hope so.
He never will replace Jerry and I dont want him too. But to honor him by playing a little like him.. Thats great.. dont hate..

Great show, great Althea which really got the second set grooving. A little tight on the floor for dancing though.

Heather...that was by far the oddest review ever...i hope u don't go to anymore shows and waste the ticket for someone who really would love to see the band...You have to lay off whatever you are on, because you are full of contradiction....Why do people have to go so deep on this whole thing...This is a band that plays music, if you like the music go see them...I know I am going to see them and cant wait!!!!

My goodness. I am having a real hard time believing some of these stories. Especially Heather's. You left in the first set? What? Did you get dosed or something. How is that even possible? For the folks complaining about John. Please. I loved his playing. His guitar is spooky good. This is the first time they've played with anyone that sounds remotely like Jerry. His sings Jerry songs beautifully. I think next year they will come back and play a much larger venue. This thing is going to catch on. It was a blast. Thanks Furthur.

Think of it this way, Heather. Who better to fill the co-lead guitar/vocal role than a man who has spent half his life performing the Dead repertoire in front of live audiences? Anyone else would have some serious cramming to do, but not Mr. Kadlecik. Sure, the teleprompter is a much-needed crutch, but my money is on John as the Furthur member who best knows the lyrics blindfolded. Phil would come in second. Bobby third. Maybe fourth. Behind Joe.
The fact that he sounds like Jerry is, well, I like to think of it as The Ripple Effect.

I cannot review this show...I was not there. I can however, write a review about Heather. Heather, what a shame someone had to miss the show because you had a ticket. Please dont buy any more tickets, please make room for those who appreciate the art and grateness of this here band. I caught the Atlanta show, and I could NOT believe what I was hearing.....it was more than I could possibly imagine I would ever live to see again. Thank you, whomever it is that runs this place from above, for giving me this opportunity to witness what only a few priveleged people are tuned in to appreciate. Thank you as well for bringing us JK and Chimenti, and those great drummers. Thank you for the Jack Straw on Monday night, and one last thing, please, please dont let Heather go to any more shows.

Orlando Rocked. The band was on from the first song - a surprising Sat. Night to open the show and the fireworks didn't stop till the last note of a very well placed Touch of Grey. Really sweet Bid you good night before the double encore. A frolicking dance happy U.S. blues and right on with the sweet versions of Deep Elm, and The Wheel. Miami was tight but I agree that Orlando was maybe a bit better. Ripple as the Miami encore really made that show worth getting wet. Maybe the weather resulted in a few shortened numbers at the Miami date but no complaints about the venue. Enjoy this band while you can and it is natural that to have a slow night after getting off to such a hot start.

Fun show. OMSN opener opener was fun. R&C and Deal were good. After Midnight was a lil different but good. Cryptical >Wharf > TOO was very nice. Touch was perfect after US Blues. Good time, but still miss RATDOG more!!!!!
Borquette, Orlando
In response to Heather PLEASE STAY IN DILLSBORO, INDIANA from now on you clearly don't need to be going to anymore shows. Stay home Buzz Killington and the Bring downs! Heather you suck at life if you think this band isn't the real deal. I almost feel sorry for you chump. To everyone else go see this shit unbelievable!!!!
seth, Chicago
Wow....This is F-ing awsome. Me and my brother caught Miami...we knew it was going to be fun but it blew us away....Mr Fantasy......Just awsome. Then we hit Orlando and got more of the same...Althea...I loved it. I missed heather though...I'm glad I didnt take what she had. To each their own. I missed how much funnnnn I have at these shows.. Atlanta was better sound (for me). The sound was great. IF YOU DON"T LIKE THIS LINE-UP YOU ARE CRAZY....
Groove Sanfu, Atlanta
The OMSN was in a more preferred slot, rather than closing or as the encore. The Bertha was smokin'. It was nice to hear the race is on, as it was a rather rare tune in the day. Roses and masterpiece slowed things to a halt. The Reuben/Cherise>Deep Elem>Deal was hot and they were back from the midset slumber.
After Midnight was hot. Next time you see me was ok. Love JK doing althea...it was an awesome version. Cryptical was nice to hear...Not terribly pretty with Phil singing, though. Wharf rat and O1 were well played. Nice, energetic Wheel...Better than the Utica version. The GDTRFB was great...a little hotter than Hampton. Can't go wrong with We bid you...The Hampton version was prettier. The encores were fine.
I think Miami edged out Orlando. However, florida acted as a nice warm-up for this tour to heat up.
