Definitely worth the day-trip after Nokia, and even though the setlist had a lot of repeats for me (caught every Jackstraw, Eyes, and Franklin's this tour), there were some pretty good moments and jams, plus the first Estimated/Eyes since 2/26/95, as best as I can tell. The Terrapin Suite is proof of why you should never leave before the encore, even if you've got a shuttle bus to catch. The band played until nearly 1:30! Meanwhile, MSG shows were announced the same day....even with all the folks at GOTV, I don't think they can fill up MSG, but go there we must....

Wow! Incredible first set list. Golden Road/Jack Straw was fine. RR was ok. Dupree's was outstanding. FOTD was terrible - didn't know about the Nokia incident or I would have been very concerned. Estimated/Eyes was unbelievable. Still, the first set didn't showcase what this band is all about. Second set started with a long Playin' - the jam was solid but the transitions weren't smooth. I was glad they finished the song so we didn't have to deal with a set ending reprise. This was followed by a solid and always welcome Althea. The crowd around me was calling for the band to crank it up but instead a terrific and surprisingly positioned Wharf Rat was just fine by me. He's gone was ok but left my neighbors screaming for energy. Scarlet Begonias followed which got everybody going only to be followed by a mellow but well played Wheel. The band was tight and melodic so the tempo was fine with me. When SOTM followed many people around me started to leave muttering about it being one of those nights. I sat down for the first time in hours and said "Its all good" as people headed out. I hope they heard the opening chords to Help on the Way and changed their minds because things promptly went to a whole different level. Slip was remarkable and different - tons of energy, seamless, driven and Franklin's was searing. By now its 1:00 and the band started at 9:15. I was expecting a one song encore maybe US Blues when the lilting Terrapin intro wafted into the night. Holy shit, 25 minutes of rise/fall/try and we all were in a Terrapin for the ages.
Say what you will about Bobby(I love him warts and all), it is absolutely remarkable that these guys are still cranking out the finest rock music ever played. Let it also be said that Jeff is a huge difference maker in this band. My first show was 39.5 years ago. Seen all configurations, but after three Further shows and many more listens, I think the consistency of the product is better than ever. Rock on boys!!

Great show, though I can't help but wonder why they played 7 of the same songs that DSO played.

Billy O - I would have to say that 3 nights at Red Rocks will be the pinnacle. That is if Bobby shows up and is rested, energized and at least somewhat sober.

Hey Brice, Rothbury was actually an Eyes/Estimated, but still appears to be the first pairing with Estimated from any of the OtherOnes /Dead /Furthur lineups. Does anyone know if any of Phil's solo offerings played them?
