Great show after three days on tour, WOW, can they get any better, Tonight had some great stuff. The dancin was so 70's & gave you that old time feel. The Estimated was the best so far I had seen. What is so fun, is watching Bobby & Phil having so much fun. I think Furthur is the most fun they have had in years playing this music. Have a great tour everyone!

I agree totally on the Estimated - no extra bar & gave it a real Dead feel. The vocal range was great. I thought Stones was also amazing, my first one from Furthur. The Me & My Uncle> FOTD was a real treat. A double sandwich in the second set, oldie openers/closers Dancin (1980!) and Birdsong>Promised Land (smoking) & Deal and Stones. Tambourine intro verse for Samson. What a rowdy show.

I would love some comments on my thought:
I have been listening to my Dead 09 and Furthur CD's. Too me there is a huge drop-off in playing in regards to Phil and Bob. I know they are old now, but they were old in 09, also. Does anyone else hear this?

I thought this show was awsome. The bands in top form on this fall tour. I can't ask much more than what these guys are delivering. Good setlist, peaks and climaxes, big jam out instrumentals, getting down in the Phil Zone, and singing classic dead tunes with an arena of heads. All makes for a really fun night. Hope I can experience this again somewhere down the road.

Looks like a great set list! I saw some of the September shows and thought that this band is kickin' ass.
Has anyone else noticed that the set lists on this tour seem to be following the Grateful Dead formula from the 80s and 90s? I mean your standard 1st set songs and then typical 2nd set songs. More mixed up but not that anything goes attitude they've had in recent years. But still more of a twist than the Grateful Dead for example - rather than Scarlet > Fire there is some cool shit sandwiched in the middle. See this band as much as you can because "even rainbows must end".

Hey Jordan, I am an analyzer. Did it for GD shows too. It was a simple question. Didn't say I did not enjoy it. I will continue to post they way I feel. Got it-buddy.

CG, I see your point, I thought Dead 09 was a very powerful band and very different from Furthur, Furthur has more of the GD feel with the the young guys being taught to express there talents more, its like Phil and Bobby are having a great time and enjoying the fact they are on a roll once more in a fantastic musical journey that has been so good to so many of us. Keep it up CG and if anyone has not heard the Phil 70th Birthday show, I am here to tell you Dead 09 and Furthur have not come close to that magical night, but they are all great and you never know what you will get. PEACE

Hey Blanch, makes sense...that is exactly what I was hoping to hear...I knew something was different. Was not trying to be negative. I love this band...just had a thought.

CG,
We all have different experiences and that's what makes GD music so unique.
I saw 15 shows this year (just ended my tour in Chicago after seeing 10 of the last 11) because the boys are playing so well. Dead '09 was different musically but also had a positive vibe. It finally felt "Grateful" again during the '09 tour after several other incarnations with Bob and Phil ('03 and '04 most notably) fell short in my opinion.
As for the playing I respect your opinion but I couldn't disagree more. What has me seeing more and more shows (and touring from Santa Barbara to Chicago) is that they're creating wonderful new music (Mtn Song, Big Bad Blues, Colors, High on Mtn, etc.), rearranging old tunes, and most importantly playing at such a high level night after night. As this fall tour has gone on we found ourselves saying "It's not a matter of whether or not it will be a good show anymore because they're ALL good. Rather simply a matter of what the set list will be."
Anyway IMHO Phil and especially Bob are playing at a MUCH higher level than they did in '09 or any other post Jerry year. I could compare to pre '95 also though I think it's silly given the Jerry factor. Bottom line is I think the boys are really cooking night after night and I for one hope to see them stay together. No more changes and no more side projects. Just stick together and made it work. I don't see why not since I haven't EVER seen Bob and Phil so happy to be playing together. Would be happy to discuss it furthur (pun intended) with you. Not sure what you're hearing that has you feeling that the playing is down from '09. For me Phil is dropping bombs with regularity and Bob is playing rhythm as if it's lead. SO crunchy and powerful. Enjoy it while we can. Peace.

Still bathin in the afterglow. Loved this show right outta the gate with the funky ass Dancin. Everybody in this band is getting better, they are playing together better...starting to take some chances musically, reaching for the ring. It's exciting I tell ya. Phil just doesn't even want to get off the stage, he just stays up there messin with the sound long after the rest of the band is backstage both at the set break and after the show. He loves playing and it shows. Bobby is playing like Bobby again, ya know. You can feel it. Great jams in Marbles, outtro to He's Gone was sweet as honey, Estimated ruled, Phil bombing the F outta Fire. Really don't have a single complaint. Wish I was out there every show. It's happening. We caught the bus. Hot damn! Furthur!
