NYE with Furthur is an amazing way to reflect, to weigh, to reconnect and see that we've got a good chance at making it collectively. When the conditions are right the seeds will sprout and for our clan, tribe, family, Furthur is the soil, water and air that sheds our outer layer. Musically they are playing more together and beautifully every time I hear them, although a little too predictable in their progression and licks. Highlights for this show were Rider and Unbroken Chain. One most wonderful sight were all the dancers in the lobby, there were speakers somewhere out there and those folks were moving around like seaweed in the tidal zone, fluid and all over the place. And then were several young families with toddlers in strollers, and a new born in a large rolling basinet. This show really illustrated the interplay between band and crowd and restores that old saying, "there's nothing like a Grateful Dead show".

Hey that song, "High On A Mountain" is not a Furthur original. It is a song by the bluegrass band, Hot Rize. A smoking version is on their album by the same name. I really like both versions.

Wow! wow! wow! What fun. The show started a little choppy but I had been waiting since Furthur was formed to hear John K sing Wharf Rat, it was everything I hoped. I also love when John sings SOTOTW. High on a Mnt is a new personal fave and always love Cumberland. Set 2 highlight was my song Rider "Cool Colorado rain" oh yeah man =). Can't beat the raw 60ish Viola Lee either. Then in Set 3 the Uncle Johns Band which is normally not a top choice of mine was absolutely phenomenal maybe the best I have ever heard seriously! The Unbroken chain is nice and the full Terrapin of course was fantastic and then to end with Help Slip Franklin Truckin?? Wow wow wow what a grate end to a fabulous trip to SF!!!

Happy New Year and see you in Broomfield!

Fun show with a great mix of old and new faces in the crowd. The boys showed they can still keep us dancin till we drop. We had a great time and always love a trip to the big ol' city.

"High on a Mountain" was written down in the 1940's by an old-time banjo player from the hills of North Carolina, Ola Belle Reed, and covered masterfully by Del McCoury and the Dixie Pals.
