Fantastic show! Bobby seemed a bit tired and was taking it easy however, Kadelic Phil, and the rest of the band were pumping out the older classics with unbounded energy. Their rendition of Pink Floyd's "Time" was absolutely perfrect!!!! The one Beatles cover per show is really cool...Can't wait to see the boys again soon.

So glad to get into this show - heard two songs Saturday from the alley behind the venue (not enuff to warrant a review!)
THe playing was great and the venue was tiny and cramped. THe former made up for the latter. John handled the lyrics on the first three, then it was Phil for Masons. (after some tech support on his lyrics board) Bobby didn't step up til later. THe overall pacing of the tunes seemed a bit disjointed, but the playing and the songs themselves were great - just not really my faves. After seeing Time a few times now, I'm over it. Fun to watch, but doesn't fit in well with the rest of the show. Make it an occasional encore, I suggest.
The area was packed with people, more fans than tickets for certain. C for the venue, B for the show. Still better than most other concerts out there. And cool that they focus on developing newer tunes (Nobody Girl) and special covers (beatlemania)

have to admit to great disappointment. one of the weakest shows i have seen in almost 40 years of dead-dom. i can't figure out why so i am looking for some other input. maybe it was because i was under the balcony but although they played strong and solid i never felt like they hit their stride, never got in the groove for very long. i agree with wharfrateric in that although time was excellent it doesn't flow with the typical dead repertoire. wharfrateruic also has it right about being disjointed and the transitions weak. and what is the deal with using the keyboards the way they did in sugaree - i realize that jeff is awesome and that that for furthur to work they have to be more of an ensemble group and play off of each other more than they did with jerry - but 2nd to last song and using keyboards to whip fans into frenzy!!!! am i wrong or isnt that usually what they would do with the guitars. heck friday - totally awesome show and setlist btw - was much stronger guitar and the flow was sublime.
my 2 and 1/2 cents..........any thoughts out there?????????

Am in agreement with the other ones here, in that I couldn't get no furthur with this show, despite the appropriately seedy presence of nitrous oxide purveyors on Boston Common. (Phishhead: "It's decadent! They bring children here!") The song selection left me flat, although Bobby's slide blues stylings on "King Bee'' were superb and "St. Stephen" a majestic diamond. "Passenger" smoked. I give 'em credit for covering "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Time," although the former turned out to be somewhat of a snoozer, and as previously noted, "Time" seemed to stand still. It was way too warm in the ratty Orpheum, and $10 drafts were a rip-off. "Viola Lee's" a good tune, but having it reprised twice is overkill. After seeing great summer and fall shows in Lowell and Worcester, this one felt oddly lackluster.

Agree with you, Eddio of Wormtown....I really enjoyed the early summer show in Lowell, but BEWARE TO ALL...THE ORPHEUM IS A DUMP and the ancient steam heating system has one setting....UNBEARABLY FREAKING HOT...and the 10 dollar drafts??....INSULT !! Boston is a great town, but the Orpheum hasn't seen a cleaning crew since 1973!!

This Other One verdict is in rhythm with the rest here......Three nights in Bean Town that started out in good stride, but then spiraled out, as if Alice fell down the rabbit hole after Time, for that date that was really too late........
I am always truly Grateful for the bountiful gifts of the deep well of this MUSic, but cannot for the life of me understand Dark Star crashing into Nobody Girl. This song sounds musically endearing until you really hear the lyrics. What part of DEAD culture feels moved by featuring the saddest of all existences of a prostitute that is not cared for by a single soul and lives in destitution and worthlessness?!? and sung on the eve of the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day! If you have to go there, then PLEASE give Stella Blue homage and at least give the last hope of a Song and "Make it Shine!" This is the second time I have seen this Ryan Adams' song in concert, where I had hoped to never experience it again. I will keep living for S o m e t h i n g !!!
From there, it was a continued disparaging quality of life theme with China Doll, Sugaree and GDTRFB. All songs I love in their own right, but brought together in the shadow of the immortal Dark Star was disheartening, where the cosmos must have needed to completely collapse in hopes of beginning a new and better future.
I make the journey of the last 30 years, whose genesis was in Boston with this musical Vibe Tribe, in search of enlightenment and inspiration, the kind that can hopefully change the planet and benefit the human race. I came to hear the greatest of Musicians on the Planet at the original Boston Symphony Music Hall, where legendary soundstreams were born over a century ago. The Vision of what THIS can be, and the greatest work all of us together can create, in lifting our many talents to their ultimate achievement needs to stay in the Light.
Where was Liberty, while we were around the corner from where the Sons of Liberty brought us into this Light of Freedom? Why does Jeff C. play in a far-removed stage corner, boxed-in keyboard vacuum and not get in the mix of the band and his patrons. His playing is Great and needs to be directly felt as the Whole. When will Bobby smile and Enjoy the Ride again?!?
After hundreds of shows, every ONE of them is a piece of my heart, and I can never get enough and eternally live for the next. There were beautiful moments over these three days, but in the end, felt like a Bird of Paradise cast out into the rain at the end of this trail. For the remainder of this tour, keep your EYES open for where the Abbey Road journey leads and keep the LOVE ALIVE. We all need EACH OTHER!*
