Looks like this poor show fell through the cracks - somebody's gotta speak up for it. Technically I'd say this was the 'off night', but the first set definitely had the song selection happening, with lots of relative rareities. The guitar parts on I want You were perfect, and Loser was an excellent follow-up, as was Jackstraw as a set closer.
The second set started out nicely with Box, but unfortunately, it was marred (for me) by an altercation that broke out in the aisle right next to me, between security and somebody they were going after. It ended with a friend of theirs getting the security guy in a headlock, so I was afraid that it was going to get really ugly fast, but fortunately that was the end of it. The jamming in and around Darkstar and Birdsong was very strong, hints of what was to come over the weekend, and I would have loved if they kept it a little stranger from that point on, but instead they went the route of a classic post-Space GD outro with Peter, Fantasy/Jude, and Around. And finally another great cover for an encore.
So yeah, for me it was the least engaging of the 4 shows so far at this venue, but it's still a good show by any measure, and certainly by pre-2011 Furthur standards!
