Set one------------------------
: The Music Never Stopped > Brown-Eyed Women > He's Gone > Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues,
Strong start to this show!
Althea, at one point JK sounds like he is singing almost acupela
Looks Like Rain, back at home in the first set
> Big Railroad Blues, strong RxR with everyone contributing
Not Fade Away-great call to end set one, you can still hear the NFA hand claps as set two starts.
Set Two---------------------------
Jack Straw-knew this could hold it's own in the second set
>Dark Star-spacey noises in this star and steady Phil
The first six minutes are all jam. great sharing of the lyrics
>We Love You-a good tune to cover, not one of the Stones huge hits but a great fast paced number.
>Dark Star- back into the Dark Star hmnn they came back into a more traditional Star almost too slow after the We Love You. This combo can work but requires more of a jam to transition between We Love You and the Dark Star they hit a nice stride after the vocals
During the jam they sound like they might go into GDTFB but eventually it's >HELP ON THE WAY- great vocals >
SLIP>The jam into Slipknot kinda revisits some of the opening spacey noises of the second set with the addition of some blazing jamming. (reaching critical mass) and they don't hit the actual Slipknot until around 7 minutes of a 7 plus minute tune
Now it is great to hit the ELEVEN from Slipknot but the band does not come back for the Franklin's. (it could've made a good double encore with Sat Night!)
Still THE ELEVEN is such a great tune!
They really polished this gem and it shines again live.
Having the back-up vocalists give this a full sound.
Bob likes two combine the two lines in the Eleven
and sing "WHAT NOW?
A great thing about this show is they just keep playing and so into the WHEEL we go! (slight false start on the Wheel by Bobby)How powerful is The Wheel live!
The first five minutes of Bob singing Black Peter is somewhat underwhelming might want to do this tune in the first set or split up the vocals with the rest of the band. The group vocals on PETER are much stronger than Weir on his lines and the jams are extended and very nice.
The final Weir vocal lines are helped out by the quicker tempo of the band as it heads into GDTRFB
Always loved this tune live, just a great vibe generator.
Not sure anyone will ever top those early Grateful Dead versions of this song but this is great.
WE BID YOU GOODNIGHT! -very sweet vocals! this is all the end of a show I need.
East Coast folks love to clap and this a great one for that!
"JESUS LOVES YOU BEST"...
