Reviews
The setlist doesn't give the slightest clue to what happened and no words can describe. The music played the band, and we were all in the band, Doors to other planes opened and stayed opened.

Nice venue and great staff and rational security, but nothing else rational about the entire night.

Well, I got my Phil and then some last night.
This show was smack dab in the middle of the state university at Orlando and the whole scene pretty much played out under the radar of this college town.
Upon arrival past the myriad of local toll roads, it was strange to see thousands and thousands of 18-22 year olds in such a highly controlled manufactured and manicured environment.

UCF has astro-turf in the front of the hall and some of the Heads were lawn bowling with plastic beer bottles and it was also interesting to watch security trying to check ticket stubs in the general admission space on anyone who was dancing too hard, they quickly had to give up on that mission. Also the No Smoking policy will have to be reviewed by the time Katy Perry hits town.

The Band came to play and really that is all we have a right to expect. Not that they will play our fantasy set. or that- if you are on tour they will never play the same tune twice or whatever unrealistic expectations people put on this rock and roll band.

I am telling you straight out this is not Old 'going down memory lane' dead this is New GRATEFUL DEAD-Furthur! This show for me was seeing, feeling, hearing JK taking the helm of the greatest American rock and roll band ever.

The Review:First set
Here Comes Sunshine- Never can go wrong with anything from the Wake of the flood era.
I saw the breakout many years ago in Phoenix with Vince (My favorite tune he played on) and of course who can forget the monster versions from 73 of this tune.
Tonight this tune moved at a pretty good clip and it was fun to watch the music draw the stragglers out of the hallways.

Celebration- I had no idea what the lyrics are to this tune but the music kept us moving in the right direction.

Mr. Fantasy-Pretty gutsy call for the third song of the first set. Very well played and you could just tell they were going to cut loose at some point tonight.

Miracle- A trusted second set tune rampaging in the middle of the first set.( It was at this point that we went from concert in a college basketball arena to fly your freak flag.)
Of note-They only sold tickets for half the arena and had a big black curtain drapped across the rest of the hall. It actually made it into a smaller type venue which is always nice.

Dance- Again I had trouble with all the lyrics but the tune itself came across very strong. Phil was into it!
This let the energy slip off somewhat. I could tell this was the point at which heads were repositioning themselves for the rest of the set. So folks were heading to the lobby, some were heading to the floor, others to the less well lit parts of the arena.
>Around- You can see that Dance has some umph because they brought it straight into Around and Around which really benefited from being played in the midst of the first set.
Back in the day I was so used to this being the tune when I would be taking stock of my belongings so it was good to just purely enjoy this old Chuck Berry classic.

Cosmic Charlie-I was loving on this classic tune. Nice harmonies!

Sugar Magnolia-I was lit at Cosmic Charlie so this had me in orbit.
We had extremely good seats just above General Admission in the Phil Zone.

1st set recap- Even though the Bobby song selections were prime it was JK that blew me away. Phil nice in the mix. This set rocked!

Review:Set Two
Fire>CASSiDY.------ UNBROKEN CHAIN
Take these as a threesome even though there was a slight shifting of gears and a stop to get us to the Unbroken Chain.
These three tunes were sweet. Playing was very inspired.
It was like hearing these tunes brand new again.

Strawberry Fields>Wish upon a star
Here is where I just felt JK stepped up and really started to shine. I was totally and completely won over right about here.
Comment on the whole Disney thing-Florida like the rest of the Nation has seen some pretty hard times lately.
Tourism has picked up with the hard winter up north but things like $ 3.75 for a gallon of gas are making for some tough times.

We Love You> This Rolling Stones song flies over most peoples heads but again the rhythmn was solid. Amazing to get that much depth into the backbone of this tune. This set up the Other1 perfectly.
(I see how they could take on Led Zeppelin's- Fool in the Rain.)

OTHER1>Comes a Time>Wheel>Truckin
This was fierce! Bobby was all over the Other One. I mean I was getting flashbacks of days gone by, JK was great on Comes a Time. I am telling you Jerry would be all smiles.
By the time they hit the Wheel and Truckin I was swinging on a railing, dancing my tail off and trying not to fall out of the balcony.
(For some reason I always progress to the rafters during a show)Did I say the light show was top shelf and really helped push the whole thing off into never ever land.
It was my woman's first show Encore-Touch
This was the song my girl had heard on the radio all those years ago. But like she said, 'This was not like anything on the radio'
Not the same drive as say RFK -7.12.90 but this was much more a long term statement that there's nothing like a Grateful Dead show!

I think of all the changes I have been through I am no longer that starry eyed hippie following the dead through Europe living on Nutella, French bread and good intentions.
I have a day job and a boy to raise, I teach the Bible for my Sunday School and for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

ROBERT HUNTER-THE BARROOM
"Does God look down on the boys in the barroom?
Mainly forsaken but surely not judged
Jacks, Kings and Aces, their faces in wine
Does the Lord deliver our kind?
From singin' for whiskey, three strings on a fiddle
Four on the guitar and a song that I love
Many's the night we spent pickin' and singin'
In hopes it be pleasing both here and above

Jack string fiddle to my saw tooth bow
Who loves loneliness, loves it alone
I love the dim lights like some love the dew
The only thing I wonder sometimes
Is does God look down on the boys in the barroom?
Mainly forsaken but surely not judged
Jacks, Kings and Aces, their faces in wine
Does the Lord deliver our kind?"

I am here to tell you HE surely does!
CHRIS 'Freedom' SCOTT
KEEP YOUR LAMPS TRIM AND BURNING!!!

Chris Scott, Fl
This show was unbelievable and it was also my first Dead related show! I have been a fan of the music since 95 and bought my first cd (Without a Net) the day after Jerry Garcia passed. I immediately became a fan and always wanted the opportunity to see the Dead live. FURTHUR did not disappoint in 2011.

The music in each set blended so well together as it always does and It had me spinning and smiling all night. Looking forward to the next show.

So it looks like they thawed out Uncle Disney and everyONE got a Fantasyland adventure in the Magic Kingdom.........Like a Bolt out of the Blue!

It looks like they got into the King's Marbles after being Welcomed to the Dance at Cinderella's castle.......Still looking for that shoe that will fit?!!?

As Jerry would Wish Upon ~ Keep that Shining Star Bright to Light up the night!*

Hooteroll, Tomorrowland
Have to agree with Chris. Awesome show, My ladies first as well. She was able to get her groove on. The second set was off the hook. It was grate to be out among friends, even the before and after scene was loads of fun.

Gary Burkhart, Fl
Great show!! Loved the "Moondance" teases in the second set. Whole band was on point and energetic. Phil performed FOTM with an electronic lightup skull on his back. Sugar Magnolia and Comes a Time were some of the best music ive ever heard Furthur make.

Asolutley an awesome show. This was my 3rd show and the band keeps getting better and better each time i see them. The highlight of the show for me was The Other One > Comes a Time > The Wheel > Truckin absolutely off the chart.
