Reviews
This was a terrific show! The space was as hot as you can imagine. We were down in the pit in front of the stage and the security was horrible. It seemed for the first set the security was trying to keep those only with bracelets in the pit area. The second set just seemed like the cops were trying to arrest anyone who looked at them wrong. The boys were on fire and I have never been that close to the band in my life. As good of playing as I can ever remember but I will not be back to this venue or at least not in the pit area.

Jared,

If I were down in the pit and I wish I was cause there is nothing like being in the pit I'd be glad security was keeping out those without GA tickets. The pit sure looked crowded enough from where I was. Sorry you saw unreasonable actions from cops. I've been to the amphitheater many times and my experience this time was same as before: beautiful staff. The cops in my area were just about dancing.
Although I lost track of where some of the jams were going to or coming from, which may have had to do with distortion in our far away seats, the music was amazing, with too many highlights to mention, everyone on, Phil & Bob both great vocally and playing, but if you said name one epiphany fast I would say John's So Many Roads. What amazes me most is the big life lesson that there is no use expecting anything, songs I used to think of as mid-level turning out to be highlights, songs coming into their own after decades gestating, just like you and me.

Well after waiting 25 yrs for a St Auggie show, the fellas threw down a excellent performance. Before I expunge my thoughts and feelings, I will state, that last night's show had the best vocal harmony of any Dead(or current incantation) show I have ever seen(30 yrs). They (even Phil) sounded spectacular. The evening was hotter than a firecracker, the ampitheatre absolutely jammed to the rafters, dancing sweaty humanity and classic hippy scents overwhelming my psyche. I was truly thankful to be there and stoked to be @ a home show. 3900 people go richter as the first notes of Jack Straw drift out like wisps of smoke in a light breeze. Here we go...

Beautiful Jack Straw, uptempo and silky with Jeff tickling the keys so nice > An Ass kicking rendition of Althea( I hadn't seen one since Buffalo 1992?) where once again Chimenti starts to get possessed and all I can say is "Holy Cow". Big Bad blues kept the energy up and BAM, STAGGER LEE, one of my personal favorites. It was off the chain. He's gone was where the vocal harmonies started to make me smile, everyone sung, yet you could still have heard a pin drop. Just a litte light I am not very familiar with but seemed alright to me.Celebration... Didn't really care for it in Orlando (Phil strong-armed in too quickly) and I have to say, maybe it will grow on me, but still didn't care for it.
With the exception of the 1st set closer, which I think ended the set in unfamiliar territory for me. I wanted one more song in the first set ( I know trying to be selfish).

Second set...
Cassidy, a very beautiful song and very well played but I had seen this as the second set opener here in Florida the last few times thru was hoping for something different. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good Cassidy and people were getting their intermission groove back.

Will complete my review later... Duty calls. SLADE

AHHHHH... Where was I.. Oh yeah Cassidy second set opener as I said was a excellent version. People were getting there grooves back. Always a deadhead favorite, The Wheel, If the thunder don't get ya then the lightning will. Much dancing ensued!
The mountain song... How awesome, as there isn't a mountain for 500 miles in any direction. Phil's BASSLINE is thumpin', I am lovin' the show at this point. The fellas are playing tight tonight in the nations oldest city,
OH yeah, nice segue into Uncle John's, a rollicking, caribeany buffetesque jamming version(at least to me). Freakin Sweet!
So Many Roads... This was a sabatage song. I still wanted to groove but the band had other notions. I was figety at the beginning, but when I settled in, this song blew me away. The beauty, the story, the music, John's soulful mourning wail... I have goosebumps... Sabotage!!!
Colors of the Rain... Each jam coinciding with a color of the rain, BRILLIANT! Phil is out in force tonight, He is smiling and having a great time. Thanks Phil.
Help/Slip... Yeah... I know they have been playing it quite a bit, but come on, the slip is the unknown and this one was an excellent Florida Swamp Style Slip. I was hoping they would throw us a bone before Franklins and BAM...HELP/SLIP/PLAYING!!!
Playing In Band...Bobby recovers and they do some great vocal inflections on this classic. Playing totally surprised me outta Slip, what a treat. Thanks Bobby!
FRANKLINS TOWER... You better be dancing, or you must be dead. Up-beat, up-tempo version with maximum crowd participation, I am on overdrive and about to redline!!!
If you get confused, just listen to the music play! SING IT PHIL!!! Professor of Gettin' Down. Chementi's organ at the middle is haunting yet inviting, must breathe...
Playing Reprise ... Daybreak on the LAAAAAAAND, Get it Bobby. I am a sweaty crumpled mess, swaying to the beat that will not realease me, yet I am Sated, Thank you FURTHUR!!!
DONOR RAP... I AM AN ORGAN DONOR!!! You should be as well.
BROKEDOWN PALACE... What? not One More Sat Night?...
What a Fabulous song to end their first show in the nations oldest city, Thank you St. Augustine for your kindness, your tolerance and your desire to let the Nation go FURTHUR!
AS far as cops and security go, If you act like a dumb ass, you get treated like one.I was in pit, and am thankful that security kept people without wristbands out, as it took alot of effort to get PIT tickets. I thought we couldn't have asked for much more. Thanks and have a Grateful Day, SLADE.

Went with my Ma and Pete!! Deadersize wore them out during the Playin. Cops and staff only wanted smokers to smoke in the smoking area but we've all played the 8th grade games. Great show great venue.
