Reviews
I saw Furthur twice in 2010 and they were good, but now with this show I would say they are hitting their stride. I entered the auditorium with some vague notion of what setlists I would like to hear, but 2 or 3 songs into the show it just didn't matter. The first set was a joy to listen to. The second set was one long jam session with an occasional song being exhaled out just long enough for the audience to get its bearings, before being sent back out into the spaces and places that Dead afficianados live for. Kudos to Furthur for providing a sustainable energy that seemed endless and effortless.

Saw MSG the night before, knew they weren't likely to top that, but drove up to the windy/rainy/snowy north to see the "Eleven" show. Unfortunately, my wife is pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke, and there was plenty of it in the Oncenter, almost as bad as Barton Hall last year. So it kind of put a damper on the night, and we ended up doing something unprecedented and leaving during Darkstar. I knew The Eleven was coming, but was tickled to see how they dropped it, with Whipping Post tease and all. And the US Blues /Star-Spangled fit well with the day and the venue, which had war memorabilia and displays all throughout the venue (which we wandered for a while to escape the smoke).

So yes, I missed everything from Darkstar on (an I want You - Darkstar - We Love You sandwich is a nice touch btw), and couldn't really enjoy what came before, but it doesn't matter, because some kind taper already put it up on Archive, and it sounds great. So I'm enjoying it much more this morning, as we get ready to roll back south to AC - where hopefully the smoking is a little bit more within normal bounds...

Stream review-
Alligator opening- I had not heard them do an Alligator.
And I don't know what the previous ones sounded like
but this one is absolutely on fire! This is bawdy.
"Hippies LEAVE THE HEAT ALONE"
the jam is just moving full speed ahead!
If you dance at shows/home this is WILD!
into the Last Time!
And somehow the Last Time sounds like a ballad after that insane ALLIGATOR!!!
Furthur needs its own warning like those scary rides at six flags WARNING: IF YOU HAVE NOT DANCED LIKE A FOOL RECENTLY BE FOREWARNED "THIS SPACE IS HOT"
Last time--- has little jamming but the vocal harmonizing towards the end is good, They tug on Weir's mojo!
Reuben & Cherise-> a real island calypso flavor,
not an easy song at this point in the set.
J.K is bringing this tune.(Terrapin flavored)
Jam->Very looooooooooose
and the music playing the band.

High On A Mountain->
As I look at the valleys down below
They are green just as far as I can see
As my memories return, oh how my heart did yearn
For you and the days that used to be
High on a mountain top, standing all alone
Wondering where the years of my life have flown
High on a mountaintop, wind blowing free
Thinking about the days that used to be

Well, I wonder if you ever think of me
Or has time erased your memory
As I listen to the breeze whisper gently through the trees
I wonder if you ever think of me

High on a mountain top, standing all alone
Wondering where the years of my life have flown
High on a mountaintop, wind blowing free
Thinking about the days that used to be High on a mountain top, standing all alone
Wondering where the years of my life have flown
High on a mountaintop, wind blowing free
Thinking about the days that used to be

High on a mountain top
Thinking about the days that used to be
And I wonder if you ever think of me

"HAS TIME ERASED YOUR MEMORY"
needs to be a bumper sticker!

. Loser- Playing very good but lyrics very spaced.
So they just jam, jam, jam!!!
and we got no chance of losing this time.

Brown-Eyed Women->-> Jack Straw-REVOLUTION!!!

C freedom, fl
II: Weather Report Suite Prelude/Part 1 > Let It Grow >
the jam in Let it Grow is tremendous!
Dear Mr. Fantasy > Playin in the Band >
I Want You > SHE IS SO HEAVY!
The keyboard work is trippy!!!
Dark Star > Oh Yeah!
We Love You> Ladies and Gentleman
the Rolling Stones
King Solomon's Marbles-Drumz for the 21st century.
Sugaree, Challenging place for this tune
GDTRFB -If you don't sing along now , you never will!!!
E: The Eleven > better 11's out there but none in this slot.
The Whipping Post 11/4 Intro - I must have missed that?
> U.S. Blues - Vet's Day11.11.11!

C Freedom, Fl
It is Marty Stuart not Marty Robbins
who popularized- High on a Mountain
also credit for the song goes to Ola Belle Reed
and on top of that Phil's son -Brian Lesh has added additional lyrics to the Furthur version.

C. Freedom , Fl-
Agree with C. Freedom, not the best "Eleven" they've done, but I'm still sad for not having been in the building to see/hear it. Hopefully the Whipping Post segue will be revisited in the future.

Also, how often do you see a show with 2 Beatles and 2 Stones covers? Even though this was my least favorite of the three shows I saw on this tour, it had the best lot scene, and I've been listening to it all weekend to make up for not having been able to enjoy it in person. Never again!

I wanted to see Futhur show for a while. Have not seen a 'Dead' show since Jerry died (sadly). The new incarnation of the old band was hot. They played with energy and fun. The band should let the new guy (Dark Star Guitarist) do more Garcia songs. Bobby doing Sugaree needed a little help. Let that guitar player sing, would ya Bobby? Overall very hot show for my first time Futhur show. No longer a Futhur virgin:)
