first set
Perhaps the most important thing about this final first set of the November tour is the band comes ready to jam by weaving one song into the next.
And yes the first four are rather mellow with two of them vocally weaker Furthur originals.(but Celebration jam strengthens Cross Eyed and Scarlet washes over Colors of the Rain)
I: Celebration > Born Cross-Eyed > Scarlet Begonias > Colors of the Rain,
The next four tunes really pick up the intensity another notch and by the time they get to Cumberland it is a no holds-bared free for all with the monkey above Phil's stack holding on to Fay Wray with all his might.
Playin in the Band > Crazy Fingers > Playin in the Band > Cumberland Blues,
Personally I love when they weave in and out of songs. They could have gone right into Uncle John's at any point but it waited for very late second set.
To get 'Doin That Rag' to close first set seemed somewhat out of left field but this is a fitting end to a quirky but flowing first set.
All the first sets this tour had their own unique flavor!

The second set is where I really got loosened up. The show was played very well. A great way to finish this tour and I'm glad the band came to Indy to do it. I was pleased to find Phil set up on the other side of the stage especially since that's where I was sitting! Top notch sound in my spot. The bands cranked up and the seats are shaken. The journey they took us on was very fun and energy high. The 'Terrapin' these guys are doing is incredible and was an excellent choice to play. Terrapin and Cumberland blues really remind me of the versions on the albums. I love how seamless Bobs guitar and Phils bass lines go together, other one & fire on the mountain are good examples. Blues for Allah seems like a rarity...I love it! Great show, great to see you in Indy. Next stop Xmas jam zone.
